Kara sporting and community groups
Cockburn ARC is the area’s leading recreation and aquatic centre. There are 9 water areas, 3 waterslides, a 6-court stadium, 3 group fitness studios and a huge health club space. A wide range of sports are on offer from basketball, netball and volleyball to swimming classes and many options for kids. There is also a great range of gym classes including pilates, RPM bike sessions, and body pump. Those keen on team sports can join a volleyball or netball team and there are great creche facilities too. The club is at 31 Veterans Parade, Cockburn Central and is open 7 days a week.
The club is popular with local kids and has teams for girls and boys who want to learn to play or improve their football skills. The club caters for young kids playing Auskick right through to teenagers in Year 12. Games are played at Atwell Oval, Brenchley Drive, Atwell.
This centre offers a wide range of climbing activities and is the only climbing gym in Perth to offer lead climbing, top rope climbing, bouldering, speed climbing and abseiling all in one location. There is also a functional training gym and a pro climbers training zone. Urban Jungle is an exciting ay to get into shape and caters for children aged from 3 years to veterans. Cockburn Seniors Centre hosts a range of recreational, educational, health and social activities, classes, events, meals, outings and courses for people aged 50 and over. Activities include Zumba classes, carpet bowls, table tennis and fitness classes. The centre is located at 9 Coleville Cres, Spearwood.
This facility is now under construction and due for completion by the end of 2022. It will be a flexible community space that will serve a variety of different purposes for local people. There will be a community activity area, several sports grounds and clubrooms and play areas for kids.
